What to do with those wonderful days of leisure and abandon that are so dear, yet seem to appear and disappear at such a rapid rate? So much time is spent labouring towards this greatly anticipated time of personal freedom: deciding destinations, planning itineraries, making preparations, scheduling pet-care arrangements, negotiating with the odd relative to be entrusted with looking after the homestead.
The day of release approaches, and the memory of that bothersome grinding sound when shifting gears in the trusty old chariot rears its head. It was never looked at! What if, on the way to a beautiful weekend in Southampton or Calais, the grinding gear causes “old reliable” to grind to a halt? All those plans, all those dreams, all those pounds…
Perhaps all one need do to chase off the spectre of impending doom is let the other fellow worry about transport. No, not the lorry driver who was kind enough to let you and all of your valued leather cases ride along with him on his route (back with the motor oil cartons he’s toting, naturally). Another fellow is available to help forego this whole nightmarish scenario. A simple ring-up to the local car leasing establishment might be just the thing to relieve oneself of that last, but certainly not least, detail in one’s travel plans.
A car leasing, or van leasing if it’s an especially long holiday, can be a godsend to the harried worker-bee who scarcely has time to remember to bring along the shaving kit, let alone remember to check the rubber on the tyres before trekking across the roadways. The cost of a contract hire versus the extra wear and tear on one’s own vehicle or, God forbid, a breakdown en route might be seen as a justified expenditure, if for no other reason than the peace of mind.
There are many options available, from a hatchback by Fiat or Volkswagen for the light loads to a Toyota or Vauxhall sedan or perhaps one of the more classic touring cars like Jaguar or Mercedes-Benz if it suits the budget. A trip to the Scottish Highlands? Perhaps a Jeep Wrangler might fit the bill. American models are available as well, if one has a friend from across the pond along. Van leasing might also be desirable if one has a larger brood, or if the relatives who kenneled the pets last holiday decide to tag along on this one for payment.
Whatever style of travel or destination one has in mind, a leasing option could save the day and make the whole thing a pleasurable memory, rather than a weekend to forget. Your chariot awaits!
